TNA supports Sarath Fonseka ?

This evening TNA (Tamil National Alliance) representatives discussed with General Sarath Fonseka on supporting his candidacy in next presidential polls. Representatives from Sarath Fonseka said that discussions were successful. However TNA has not yet officially announced about their aligning in presidential polls. Most of TNA MPs prefereed on supporting Sarath Fonseka.

TNA is considering the Sarath Fonseka's Jaffna tour and Sarath Fonseka's responses on several issues raised by TNA and other activists in Jaffna. TNA will meet Tuesday morning to announce their official decision on aligning.

TNA currently having 22 MP seats in Srilanka parliament which can secure more than 01 million Tamil votes in Jaffna, Wanni and East, for a party they are in support.

Sarath Fonseka in Jaffna

Jaffna is the capitol of north of Sri lanka and majority is Tamils. After the win of the war against Tamil terrorists, Sarath Fonseka today addressed a rally in jaffna and worshiped a Hindu Temple. His Jaffna tour accompanied by Ranil Wickremasinghe and Somawansha Amarasinghe and other politicians including Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Rauff Hakeem, Mano Ganeshan, Ravi Karunanayaka and Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena. former Chief Justice Sarath Silva and former Auditor General Nihal Sri Amarasekera were also attended.

Fonseka's Jaffna tour is on an invitation by Tamil National Alliance who were still not declared to whom they will support in the Presidential polls. We think that they still investigating the trend and will declare the preference near the polling day.

Most of the Tamil organizations in Jaffna already declared that they will support the Sarath Fonseka.

Mahinda Rajapaksha accused for illegal funding

International group against corruption and abusing public funds, Transparency International accused Srilanka President Mahinda Rajapaksha on funding his presidential Election Campaign using public funds and state owned properties.

Transparency International corruption report further said that Government officials, armed troops and funds of government organizations are deployed to Mahinda rajapaksha's election campaign.

"Facilities at Temple Trees, the official residence of the President, are used to entertain people from various sectors for political purposes. At these events, most of the participants were transported to the venue at State expense and were provided with food and in some instances, even with liquor. The President justified such entertainment events where the cost was borne with the public money as a normal cultural practice."

However government still rejecting to provide helicopter transport facilities to Main opposition candidate general Sarath Fonseka. Sarath Fonseka's security more concerns than government officials because Sarath Fonseka is a potential target of deadly attacks of opposite groups.

Transparency International pointed out many occasions of misusing and abusing of public money in order to promote Mahinda's election campaign.
